The worst date that I have been on was with a guy that I had met online.  We met at a coffee shop and talked over some tea and snacks.  First, he looked nothing like his picture.  He was wearing some sports team shirt and definitely was shorter and rounder than his picture.  He didn’t look like he had tried to put himself together to impress me.  Second, he talked fairly slowly and in a monotone voice.  I couldn’t imagine hearing him speak to me for the next 20 minutes, never mind 20 years.  But the absolute deal breaker came when he initiated the conversation about our past relationships.  He told me that he had a long term girl friend who didn’t want to marry him.  I asked him why and he became brutally honest. He said that he was bipolar and obsessive compulsive and that she didn’t want to have kids with him due to his genetics.  He gave me an example of some of his troubles, mentioning that he can’t sleep if he knows that a hanger in the closet isn’t facing the right direction.  Yeah, that wasn’t going to work out for me either.  I ended our date and that was the end of internet dating for me.

My husband is my best friend and the love of my life.  The thing that I like the most about him is that there is nothing but pure understanding and acceptance between us.  We have always felt so comfortable together and have been able to truly be ourselves with one another.  We know the good and the bad, the hurts and the triumphs, and all the little quirks of each other.  He is always there for me and we always try to put the other person first.  He has always fought for us as a couple and keeps on trying to improve our relationship.  He always has my back and I wouldn’t trade him for any one else in the world as a husband or a best friend.

I have Verizon as my phone carrier.  I have had them for about four years.  I find that they have good coverage where I live, compared to many carriers.  I live in a state where there are a number of rural areas and most other carriers have a lot of dropped calls.  Besides the decent coverage, I primarily stay with Verizon because most of my friends and family have them too.  With all of those folks in my “network,” it saves me a lot of minutes and money.  I am also on a family plan so my bill is fairly competitive.  The only thing I am not crazy about is the price Verizon can charge for new phones.  If you aren’t at the end of your contract it can be very expensive.

We have smoke alarms in our houses. It is important to test these regularly. It is also important to have fire extinguishers. There are many types of these, as well as cheap fire blankets, and you should have several for all types of fires. You should also ensure that you can leave the building quickly in an emergency. Fire exits should be left unlocked at all times, and everyone should know where they are. In the event of a fire, you should have someone checking that everyone has left the building safely. It is important to call the fire service. Often no-one remembers to do this.

This past week I was pretty busy.  I picked up my daughter from camp, checked out assisted living facilities for my father-in-law, got our broken laptop repaired, and changed our internet provider, on top of working my regular 40 hour a week job.  I also did the usual washing of clothes, doing the dishes, and cleaning the house.  I would have done more except that I had a sinus infection, so I wasn’t my usual energetic self.  I went to a doctor appointment for myself.  I probably squeezed in more sleep then usual because I wasn’t feeling so well.   The most fun I had was going out to dinner and watching a movie at home with my husband.  Some weeks are just about taking care of business.

Surfing is one of my favorite activities. When I go to Hawaii, I always go surfing with my cousins. My uncle taught me how to surf when I was really small, and I have loved it ever since. I know someone that got attacked by a shark while surfing, but that doesn’t stop me. My friends always tell me its too dangerous and that I am crazy for loving to surf but I don’t think I am. I love the feeling of riding a massive wave. It is so much fun and so relaxing and soothing. Some people do yoga, but I just surf. It is an amazing experience I would definitely recommend.

If I could pick three people to have lunch with, I would pick Abraham Lincoln, Oprah Winfrey, and William Shakespeare. I would have lunch with these people because they are among the most influential people that have ever lived. I think Abraham Lincoln could give good economic advice. I would eat with William Shakespeare because English has always been my favorite subject and I love his plays. Oprah would just be fun to talk to and I would love to hear her experiences and learn from what she has to say about life and the things she has learned throughout her lifetime.

My favorite food is macaroni and cheese and my favorite drink is water. I love macaroni and cheese because no matter where you go, everyone makes their mac and cheese a little bit differently. Either the pasta used is different or the cheese sauce is different. My favorite kind is white cheddar. I love water because it is the healthiest for you. It is good for you and I usually have a lot of water throughout the day. I find that my skin looks better because of this and I feel healthier. Water and macaroni and cheese are my favorite things to drink and eat, respectively.
