I don’t know anyone else who thinks station wagons are sexy, but there you go. As a professional harpist, I would never consider purchasing a vehicle that was not large enough to transport my instrument. The options are few and far between; most harpists eventually wind up buying a minivan. As a 20-something with not desire for children, the idea of driving a mom-mobile drives me nuts! This pretty much means that a station wagon is the way to go. I currently have a Dodge Magnum, and eventually hope to be able to afford a Volvo wagon. Volvo’s station wagons are large enough to accommodate my harp, stool, music stand, and music bag, plus myself and another occupant. The ride is smooth and very quiet inside the cabin; these wagons also get excellent gas mileage.

Music Theory: How I learned to stop worrying and love sight-singing
My favorite class in college was music theory, the “nuts and bolts” of music that deals with everything from notational basics all the way up to the complexities of atonal music. As a music major, I needed six semesters of it; theory classes were usually dreaded by everyone, as they had a reputation for being dry, boring and also quite complicated. Thankfully, I had a series of amazing professors who kept me on my toes and made theory enjoyable and relevant. I believe that I am a quality musician today in large part due to the excellent and rigorous instruction I received from them.

Cats: womankind’s best friend
Cats have been my favorite animals since I was a very young girl. They have a reputation for being cold and aloof, but in my experience this is totally false. Each of the cats I’ve had to honor of sharing my life with has been affectionate, cuddly, and imminently loveable. I’ve also found that cats have very distinct personalities; I currently have six cats, and each one has their own niche. One is rambunctious and playful, while another is kind of awkward and nerdy. A third is confident and outgoing, while another prefers to be alone most of the time. Each, in his or her own way, provides love and companionship beyond belief.
Fire Awareness
Fires are always a risk to households and buildings in general. For this reason, it is vital that in any areas where there is a risk of fires occurring (homes, businesses etc) that there is fire preventative equipment. This may include smoke alarms, which pre-empt large fires before they start. Regular checks should be made to ensure that smoke alarms are functional, as they could save lives. Furthermore, automatic fire extinguishers should be kept in places with a high concentration of people in, to help out in any fire emergency situation. The fire brigade strives to ensure that both smoke alarms a large automatic fire extinguisher is installed in appropriate places, so as to reduce the risk of fire and put out small fires before they get out of hand.
Cracked.com always brightens my day!

- Image via Wikipedia
My favorite website, without a doubt, is Cracked.com. This humor website always offers a wide variety of hilarious articles, lists, photos, and video; I know I can count on Cracked to make me smile, even on a really terrible day. My favorite part of the website is “Craptions”: the Cracked staff will present users with a photo and ask them to come up with the funniest caption. There are also frequent Photoshop contests and other ways that users of the site can participate. Best of all, contest winners win cold hard cash! Cracked is the best, and I look forward to reading the new articles every morning when I get out of bed.
Let’s Relive That!
Several months ago, I visited San Francisco and would love to do it all over again. It rained the entire week, so we spent a lot of time in the hotel instead of going out and seeing the city. I would love to redo that trip and, even though it was raining, spend all the time that I could seeing the sights. Rain is only water! I would visit the Golden Gate bridge, which we did not, and spend more time in Golden Gate Park, which we only saw briefly. I would also like to go to the Ghirardelli factory and sample some chocolate!
Bye Bye Fluffy
The hardest thing that I ever had to do was put my cat, Fluffy to sleep. Fluffy was 18 years old when she finally succumbed to Diabetes and

other ailments. I had had her since I was very young and had never been without her, so it was especially hard to say goodbye. She was a little calico cat who looked as though she was six months old because she never really grew out of being the runt. We had a funeral for her and she is buried in the yard of the house that I grew up in as a child.
Fire Safety – Precautions to Prevent From Fire Accidents
Fire is one of the most serious hazards one faces in life. Fire safety is taken to stop or reduce the fire accidents that may result in death, property damage or serious injuries. Fire safety is implemented at the early stage of building constructions. Proper fire exits are included and foam fire extinguishers are made available. Occupants of the building are taught how to use the fire exits and mountable foam fire extinguisher during an emergency. Fire safety is not only required in buildings or houses but also in public places, chemical laboratories etc. Using fire alarms also help to reduce the risk.
Sleeping on the Beach
My favorite activity in the summer is to lie out on a nice beach and enjoy the sunshine. I like to fall asleep to the sound of the water. This is when I am completely relaxed and have not a worry in the world. I also like to play a little Frisbee with some friends. We tend to play hard and it always wears us out after a couple of hours. Then it’s time for another nap on the beach! Summer is undoubtedly my favorite season since I love outdoor activities. Jet skiing and surfing are also fun, as is plain old swimming!
Dancing on the Subway
- Image via Wikipedia
The funniest thing that I have ever seen took place on the Subway in New York City last June. A friend and I were visiting for the weekend and were on our way to a show. A band of performers entered our car and started a singing and dancing routine. Half way through the performance, the one man’s pants split as he bent forward slightly. He continued to play the drums, completely unaware. The whole car saw his polka dot shorts that he had on underneath. Lucky for him, we all found his so hilarious that we paid him well for the act!
