Just since recently I have started compiling a website that lists a series of South Indian savouries. Indians living in the South of India are predominantly vegetarian rice eaters. Almost a third of their eating regimen comes with rice. There are at least a dozen of these rice dishes listed on my site. I got so carried away while writing the content for my site for the recipe to make “Vegetable Pulao” that I went to the Woodlands Retreat near my house for dinner the same day. There it was, my veg pulao. Steaming rice mixed with the best green peas handpicked I don’t know from where. They give a special gravy sambar that complements with the pulao so well. The size of the rice grains in this pulao is to be seen to be believed. As big as a centimeter. Most people eat steaming rice idlis (those round white rice puddings) before the pulao, but I did the opposite. Pulao first and then the idlis.
