Nothing Happened

Today I did very little. I got up at around eleven in the morning and watched E! News. Then after I went and made lunch and watched Gene Simmons Family Jewels. After that I cleaned up my lunch dishes, did laundry, and finished up sewing my pillow case. After that I filled out a couple of job applications while I watched The Simpsons. After that I played a little bit of Guitar Hero and completed my new video game, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Then I went out and got Subway for supper. Later I plan on going on eBay and trying to get some Christmas gifts for my friends.

Anything Goes

I have a secret.  I usually keep it even from myself.  I don’t share it with others often, because I am very afraid I will fail, and thus look a fool.  By fail, I don’t mean do a lousy job…I mean not getting the job done at all.  There is a deeper darker part to this secret…I am, for some unknown reason, lazy.  I don’t want to be lazy.  I feel pride, great pride, when I accomplish something.  But procrastination has become imbedded in me like fossils in Montana.  Someday, hopefully a day very soon, I will put off procrastination, and live my secret.  I shall be a writer!

Bald Eagle

Just a quarter-mile away is the beach and the ocean.  The light here is diffuse because of the constant ocean’s mist.  Rain is a constant, and I personally love it.  While it is beautiful when the sun is out, there is a certain comfort when all is gray and misty.  There are mountains just a few miles from here.  Camping and hiking are popular activities, as are boating and fishing, at least for those who don’t get seasick.  Sightings of bald eagles and elk are almost as common as crows and cats.  Crossing the mountains, which are just a few miles from here, brings one to a large culturally diverse urban center.  I cannot think of anything this area is lacking, and feel lucky to be living here.

Fire Treatment

Staying safe at home is very important. Locking your doors, locking your windows, turning off the coffee pot and turning of the stove are all ways to keep your home safe. One of the biggest threats to home safety is the household fire. It is vital that every family member knows how to prevent household fires and how to handle them if they do happen. One of the best ways to treat small household fires is with a fire extinguisher. A fire extinguisher is generally a big red cylindrical tube with a dispensing mechanism at the top. To use it, pull the pin, aim at the bottom of the fire, and release the extinguishing foam. Again, home fire extinguishers are only to be used on small household fires. If the fire gets too large, it is best to vacate the house immediately and call the fire department. Household goods are items that can be replaced. Lives however cannot be replaced.

Attired

Today was a day of change, clothing-wise.  Yesterday a dear friend and I went through her closet and I was the fortunate recipient of some fantastic items.  Instead of my usual jeans and long-sleeved tee-shirt, I am today wearing a red sweater, long black skirt, and fun red mary-jane heels.  My neighbor asked where I was going dressed “so fancy”!  Later this evening when I return to work I shall wear a dramatic black coat.  Its wool so I only have a few months to wear it and enjoy it.  When I retire for the evening I wear plain old pajamas, however they do have various kittens in the design so I guess… they are the cat’s pajamas.

True Blood!

FV Wizard & FV Northwestern from Deadliest Catch

Earlier this year I succumbed to cable television.  I’d never paid for it before, but with Deadliest Catch coming on and the drama surrounding Captain Phil Harris I signed on.  Now I love Deadliest Catch, and feel that is one of the best programs, reality or otherwise, ever produced.  My real weakness however, is vampires.  I am a sucker for True Blood.  While I got cable, I did not end up getting HBO, so sadly have to wait the full year until the DVD’s are ready to purchase before I know what’s happening.  Waiting for this show is worth every bloody minute.  I will mention here that I have not read or seen any of the Twilight series, and have no intention of doing so.

Day By Day

It all begins with that wicked wicked item the alarm clock.  Its only salvation is the snooze button.  After a prolonged battle, which I obviously lose, I struggle to an upright position, and do my toilette routine for about 20 minutes.  At this point I usually stumble out the door and drive to a client’s home to help them get ready for the day.  Somehow, during the drive, I attain a state of full consciousness and am able to render assistance as is necessary.  When that is completed, I usually return home and am accosted by several spoiled furry mammals.  After seeing to their every need and whim, I’ll run any errands that are necessary.  Often I’ll focus on my new home party business (selling chocolate!!).  Evening brings time to vegetate in front of the television, until my client needs assistance getting into bed.  After that, I usually find myself surrounded by the previously mentioned animals and am sent to a warm purring land of dreams.

Fire can happen anywhere

In today’s world no matter where you are what you are doing, a fire hazard is never a few steps away. It’s always better to be on the safer side. Make sure you have a foam fire extinguisher in your home. Carry a foam fire extinguisher in your car or pickup truck. Teach your children and your spouse how to use an easy to use foam fire extinguisher, it’s no point having one if you do not know how to use it. Keep your electrical appliances earthed and always remember to turn off your gas supply when you leave home or go to bed. With a few simple steps you can always keep danger at bay.

My Most Awesome Adventure

Institute of Mental Health 6, Nov 06
Image via Wikipedia

For over four years I’d lived in a Place I Shall Not Name.  Suffice it to say that I did not like the climate, I did not like the geography, I did not like the people, and I couldn’t find a way to fit in to the cultural environs.  No matter how positive I tried to be, or how I tried to better myself, Bad Things Kept Happening.  Finally there came a day when I had no further local commitments, and I actually had enough money to escape this place.  I literally picked a location because of its name and the fact I’d driven through there once.  Two weeks later I had an apartment, job connections, and a far better attitude towards life in the new location.  While life certainly hasn’t been perfect, it has been much better and it is the best thing I ever did; for myself or otherwise!

My Favorite Hobby

Some years ago I dated a man who, well, thought he was all that and more.  He wasn’t. Yet he did teach me how to make simple jewelry.  In the years since I’ve probably spent well over a thousand dollars on beads, wires, tools, gemstones, and other supplies.  I’ve probably earned about seventy-five dollars, if not less.  So this obviously hasn’t been great by business standards.  See, a friend will suddenly have a birthday and I’ll take five minutes and make her a pair of earrings to go with that chartreuse blouse she always wears.  The look in her eyes is priceless! It is easy to find quality and inexpensive jewelry today, but it is so much fun to give a custom piece they couldn’t find anywhere.
