Self-Analysis and Marathoning

My best characteristics are my willingness to except my own faults and flaws. I try to view life as a continual process of maturation and I am willing to see my own faults in every decision. To that end I also value my willingness to learn from my mistakes. I believe that there is always the possibility for growth and that each person must continually seeks out opportunities for self improvement. I can tie this desire to my favorite physical attributes because I have worked continuously to improve my physical attributes in reference to my marathon running. I really like my legs, specifically my calfs.

Running, Running, Running

On most days I look forward to exercise. I can’t tell you how much of a release it is to put in an hour or two on the treadmill. For example, today I plan on going over to the gym in about an hour to climb on the Stairmaster, lift weights, and then do a bit of running on the treadmill. Working out gives me the confidence to perform during races and physical competitions. I also look forward to running marathons. At the end of this month I will be traveling to Bellingham, WA to run the last marathon of the year on December 31, 2011. I am looking forward to the opportunity to break my previous record of 2:52:19. SO far my training has been pretty good, with the exception of a few down days while in San Francisco.

San Fran and Stomach Flu

Grant Ave. in Chinatown, San Francisco.

Image via Wikipedia

This past weekend I went to San Fransisco to run in the North Face 50 Miler Endurance Challenge. However, when we got to San Fran I fell and hurt my right knee and my fiancé came down with stomach flu. As a result, neither of us competed in the event and instead we spent two days walking around the northern part of the city and watching junky movies in our hotel room. All in all it was a pretty nice little vacation. I think both of us would have liked to run the race but it would have been detrimental to our health to do so. By the end of the weekend we had racked up $300 in CC debt, but overall we had a great time!

Preparing For the Worst

It is said that getting prepared for a difficulty/disaster automatically brings a cure to that and minimize the effect of the danger and one such danger/disaster is fire which can be there without see kink your permission. So, it is god to have a fireproof document box in advance to get prepared for such natural calamities which in turn bring safety against fire and protects you and dear ones from this unexpected guest. Although you can use other measures for protection against the fire but fireproof box is the main thing to have in order to be protected against the fire.

Be the Change in the World

If I could change a single thing about the world I would try to reduce the mental blocks that humans have deterring them from positive change. It is so incredibly hard for us to see when, and what, our negative actions are. In fact, our actions often have serious ripple effects that alter our own potential for survival on this planet. For example, water as a resource is becoming scarce. As a result, people need to start to look for ways to conserve water, and water related resources, so that we are able to survive into the next century. If we can find a way to make these things priorities by getting rid of our mental aversion to change we will be better off in the long run.

Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder are AWESOME!

I grew up listening to grunge rock. As a result my favorite band is Pearl Jam. I have always really liked their music. I feel like they sing directly to me and that their message is always realistic and down to Earth. I also like the bands lead singer and the overall appearance of their stage performance. The bands followers are people who I identify with and they make me feel comfortable when attending concerts and shows. Eddie Vedder, the bands lead singer, has also done a lot of independent music projects. Each of them addresses a particular social issue. For instance, the environmental movement is often incorporated into his songs.

A Great Trip Around the World

When I turned 22 I went on a trip around the globe with three friends. We traveled by train from Istanbul to Beijing, and then from Beijing to St. Petersburg. I would have to say that the place I felt furthest from home was Turkmenistan. While there our group of friends was escorted by a government tour guide. We were required to stay in government hotels and eat in government restaurants. The entire city was set up to hear broadcasts from a PA system and the roads were gorgeous, but void of cars. In fact, upon entering the country the customs officials check our mouths for gold teeth for fear that someone might mug us and try to take them.

Ultimate Outdoor Shipping Spree

Some big-box retail stores are over-illuminated.

I would love to go on a shopping spree at Patagonia. I have worked for this company on several different occasions and have always found there clothing to be of the highest caliber. In fact, I have probably already spent thousands of dollars in their retail stores. In fact, most of the outdoor clothing that I own was either purchased from Patagonia retail stores or from their online catalog. Their stores also offer opportunities for local non-profits to present to the public and usually have amazing images for adventurers doing extraordinary feats.

Too Much Work, Too Little Play

When I was 14 I started working as a baseball umpire. Immediately after that, at the age of 15, I worked in a pizza shop washing dishes and as a telemarketer. After I graduated from high school I got a job as a garbage man for the City of Brecksville, Ohio. I soon moved up the ranks to a recycling position. I earned enough money to go to college where I worked as a retail sales associate for Patagonia, Inc. During my sophomore year of college I got a job as a bartender and then later as a live in care giver for a quadriplegic male. After graduating from college I started working as a teacher, then as a publishing assistant, and am now employed as a graduate assistant with the University of Montana. I liked the garbage man job the best.
